Coach and Trainer Course Rebate Process
Erindale Hockey Association encourages training and certification for all members of team bench staff. Specifically, each team should have a certified trainer; each head coach should obtain Coach level certification and "A" team head coaches should strive for Intermediate level certification. All bench staff have to take at least the three-hour Harassment and Abuse seminar (required by December 31, 2002). All "A" and Red teams must have a certified trainer. Note that the Harassment and Abuse component is included in the CBET Coach Stream level course. Advanced Coach level course must be pre-approved by the Erindale board.
Course dates are listed on the MHL and GTHL websites. Apply for a course by calling or e-mailing the contact person listed for each course. There are a limited number of courses given in Mississauga, otherwise you may have to travel to somewhere in the GTA.
Process:
Thanks for taking the time to get certified… all our young players will benefit from the time you invested!
Please
be reminded that as of September 1, 2002 ALL on ice officials or
volunteers
must wear CSA approved helmets during all on ice practices or activities.
The Policy was approved by the MHL and the Area Associations.
MHL HELMET POLICY
All on-ice Coaches, Trainers, Assistant Coach, Assistant Trainer or Volunteers will be required to wear C.S.A. approved helmets during all on-ice activities. Sanctions for non-compliance: First incident results in written notification/warning by one or all of the following; MHL Board of Director, MHL Area Association Executive Member, MHL Office. On a second incident by the same party, that individual shall be suspended from participation in MHL activity for a minimum of 2 weeks. For the third infraction of the policy, the participant shall be suspended for a period of 1 year
For the upcoming 2004-2005 season every team must have a certified trainer on the bench during all games. This is a very rewarding volunteer position. If interested go to the Hockey Development Centre for Ontario and check out the schedule. Upon submitting your receipt and Trainers Certification Number, you will be reimbursed for 100% of the cost of the course.
Harassment and Abuse Clinic
200-200 Harassment and Abuse Clinic InformationTo be part of a coaching staff (head coach, assistant coach,
trainer or manager), you must take the Harassment and Abuse Course. It is
a four hour course. It will be mandatory for the 2005/2006 season. The cost will be reimbursed by Erindale Hockey on
completion and verification. Check out the MHL
website for information on upcoming courses. Don't miss out on
coaching next year by ignoring this requirement! All bench staff will have
to take
this seminar to receive an arena pass for 2006/2007 season.

This award is intended to recognize those individuals who, like John, have significantly contributed to the development of young hockey players. It is also to inspire all coaches in minor hockey to achieve and maintain a higher standard.

Dedicated to teaching and nurturing the fundamentals of positive hockey skills and good sportsmanship
Consistently demonstrates patience, fairness and positive guidance in teaching hockey players

Recognized by players, parents and peers as a person who embodies the qualities and values of what minor hockey tries to achieve
The first recipient of the John McCreath Award is Tim Manning. Tim served as Erindale's president from 1992 - 1996 and made significant contributions that shaped not only our Association but the MHL as a whole. Two of his major achievements were the introduction of the Initiation Program to Erindale and the establishment of a child abuse program at Erindale. We are proud of what Tim accomplished and the MHL and Erindale are proud benefactors of his efforts. Tim coached for six years at Erindale. Many of the parents and players who were members of his team have nothing but the highest praise for our inaugural recipient. Tim was presented with his plaque and a commemorative print on Awards Day. (click to enlarge)
